  4.     More power to the corporations for trying to enhance employee
  5. literacy by providing classes in basic reading, writing and
  6. arithmetic (BUSINESS, Dec. 19); someone must take up the slack left
  7. by our school system. But as for workers who have difficulty
  8. understanding their employer's manuals, I'd say the fault isn't
  9. theirs alone. As a technical writer and editor, I am constantly
  10. amazed at the incomprehensible texts written by managers,
  11. technicians and corporate trainers. The need for improvement
  12. reaches far wider, and higher, in American business than you
  13. describe.
